Would an Addiction to Painkillers Cause a Lack of Sex Drive in a Person?
Question by boomchicka777: Would an addiction to painkillers cause a lack of sex drive in a person?
My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 2 years. We hardly ever have sex and for a long time he blamed it on me. Recently he came clean about his painkiller addiction. He is addicted to Percocet, Vicodin, Oxycontin and Morphine. So would that addiction cause him to lose all interest in sex? It’s been almost 3 months since he has touched me and it’s very hard to deal with. For a long time I thought it was me, he told me I initiated too much or too aggressively, but I only did it because he never did. Also, he quit drugs within the last couple weeks and now he claims the withdrawal is also making him uninterested in sex. Any opinions would be appreciated, aside from the “he’s cheating on you” ones.
I actually did get him into a detox/rehab program, I paid for it and I am supporting him. It’s not so much that I’m worried about us not having sex, but this has been an ongoing problem for almost two years, so I’m understandably sick of it. I was just wondering if a drug addiction would really cause a total and I mean total lack of interest in all sexual behavior. I never cheated on him or broke up with him either. I’m just so frustrated.

Your boyfriend is a drug addict. These drugs definitely can cause erectile dysfunction and lack of sex drive not to mention death. He should go for rehab and detoxification and stay off the drugs. You should run a mile away from him and find another lover who is clean and healthy.
