Can Pregnant Women Be Denied the Use of a Private Business Restroom?
Question by FastLane_99: Can pregnant women be denied the use of a private business restroom?
A woman entered the place where I work & asked to use the restroom, I allowed her to use it. There is a drug rehab center about 1/4 mile west from there & we continuosly have their patients come in for directions to there or ask to use our restroom. Our restroom is for customer use only. I did not tell her that before. 4 minutes before closing time she came in again asking to use the restroom again; another employee was using the restroom. Not trying to be rude I told her & the other female that accompanied her that we closed in four minutes & I wouldn’t be able to let her use the facilities. She started to use profanity & said that according to California law no pregnant woman can be denied the use of a restroom & threatned to call the local advocacy for pregnant women & the local authorities. The woman was short & round all over. Pregnant women come into my place of business all the time & she just did not look pregnant. But, is it true, can they not be denied the use of a restroom?

You can deny it if the restroom is “unavailable”.
Being Closed means unavailable.
If it happens again, call the Cops.
