Dark Passenger
At the request of his girlfriend and to save their relationship Dexter agrees to attend narcotics anonymous meetings even though he isn’t a drug user. In this scene he introduces himself to the group and instead of talking about a drug addiction he talks about his darker alter ego. For those of you not familiar with this series here are the basics. Dexter is a blood splatter specialists for the forensics department of the Miami Police Department. His alter ego drives him to kill. To prevent letting the alter ego get the better of him, he goes by a code. He only murders criminals who have killed others repeatedly and have escaped prosecution thanks to loopholes in the law. He does this as a means to prevent more potential harm from befalling the innocent. This scene is a prime example of the brilliance in the script, characters, and talent of the actors in this series. Dexter has all of his “fellow addicts” completely encapsulated by his presentation in this scene. They all seem to be able to relate to him without even suspecting that his dark passengers is a serial killer and theirs is a addiction to drugs. I don’t normally promote the sales of a product, DVD, or CD but this series is well worth purchasing on DVD both season I & 2. There’s not one single bad episode in either sets of DVDs. I cannot speak for Season 3 yet as it is not yet out on DVD.
