US Donates $30000 (Rs 2.5 Million) to Gujranwala Drug Treatment Facility.wmv

Gujranwala, February 3, 2010 In a ceremony held today in Gujranwala, US Consul General Carmela Conroy donated over 000 (Rs 2.5 million) worth of equipment and financial support to the Mian Afzal Trust Hospital in Gujranwala. This assistance will help the hospital provide counselling and outreach services and increase its vocational training activities. The Mian Afzal Trust Hospital has provided drug treatment services to the people of Gujranwala since 2001. In addition to operating an 80-bed drug treatment facility, the hospital provides free services via a drop-in center and outreach program. Since the early 1980s, the US government has collaborated with the government of Pakistan to disrupt the supply of narcotics originating in Pakistan, prevent narcotics trafficking, and promote drug demand reduction and public awareness activities to combat domestic drug use.
