Schlüsselburg – Lnáře (Town of Lnar) Municipality
[together with small village Zahorčice]
lies in the northwestern part of Prachens province, which is in the southwestern Bohemia, some 50 km southeastern from PILSEN or 100 km southern southwards from PRAGUE.

Mentioned for the first time in 1313 or 1318, but inhabited continually since 6./7. century BC by Celts, Doudlebs and their posterity. First knights of Schlüsselburg [Lnáře] were aristocracy of German origin residing at the Old Stronghold near passing of Smolivec Brook en route from Pisek City to Pilsen City.

Lnáře was a village drowned in sea of woods on the shores of muddy streams in moorland. This moorland was (as in case of town Třeboň) very soon turned into a basin with dozens of ponds and lakes, later numbering almost four hundred. After 17th century some decline in fishing industry occurred and many ponds and lakes were dried up with these lots have been used for pasture for sheeps. As of 1840 there were 13,000 sheeps. New kinds of unscaly carp were cultivated in the 19th century by Theodor Mokry (his activity brought revival of local fishing industry), with the name Lnarsky modrak ("Bluefish of Lnáře"). A train line was built between the towns of Blatná and Nepomuk (local name Pomuk) near the start of the 20th century leading near Lnare municipality, which is still in use. After 1918 was municipality part of Czechoslovakia, later of Protectorate Bohemia & Moravia and after 1948 part of communistic Socialistic Republic of Czechoslovakia. Winter 1989 brought end of this totalitarian state and we enjoy first 20 years of cultural, social and economic revival. Devastating floods in august 2002 damaged strongly municipality but we rebuilt much of it with help of european aid. Thank you EU!
