What Jobs Are There That Deals With the Prevention of Child Abuse or Animal Cruelty?

Question by lozzieee: What jobs are there that deals with the prevention of child abuse or animal cruelty?
I feel strongly about these issues and i think i want to have a career that helps prevent these dreadful things from happening. Also what skills/qualities would i need in order to do a job involving these things?

I would think that a social worker, animal control officer, police officer, or other law enforcement job might be able to do that. You can also be a psychologist, to help to prevent it with counseling for at-risk people.

Other than that, nothing says you can’t volunteer in your area, in shelters, both for women/children, and animals. FInd out what is needed, and make your own career.

But please make sure that you have some pretty good outlets for your stress. Both of the issues that you are mentioning have a lot of baggage with them, even for the people helping. Burn out is a common phenomenon, so have a good support system your self.
