He will most likely be fine and the drugs are typically gone in about 2-4 days.

But just so you know here is how they could show up differently- Adderall is a mixture of amphetamines, levoamphetamine and dextroamphetamine. About 75% of Adderall is dextroamphetamine and 25% is levoamphetamine.

Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) is a pro drug, meaning it is not chemically active until metabolization occurs creating the active metabolite dextroamphetamine, the same substance in 75% of Adderall.

If the test he does is simply for “amphetamine” it will not show any difference. Levoamphetamine (normally just called amphetamine), dextroamphetamine, methamphetamine, and MDMA will all just show up as “amphetamine.” The very expensive GC-MS tests can figure out what exactly the drug is and they may or may not do GC-MS.

Does your son have a prescription for Vyvanse (ie do you have something like a prescription bottle that proves he does have a prescription)? Even though the Vyvanse has been discontinued if you can prove he has it legally they really can’t do a thing.

So try not to worry. And since he is resuming the Adderall a test will find dextroamphetamine and levoamphetamine which is constant with Adderall. Don’t throw away the Vyvanse in case you need to show it but I can’t imagine there will be a problem.
