Chapel Hill Nursing Home Staff on Forced Leave after Patient Death A patient from the Alzheimers unit of Britthaven of Chapel Hill, a North Carolina nursing home, died and six other patients were hospitalized after opiates were found in their systems. The nursing home staff members who worked in the unit were given drug tests and then placed on paid leave pending investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation. Police report includes concerns about possible overmedication of the patients. Furthermore, Britthaven is on a national nursing home watch list, and, according to an inspection report, one area in the nursing home was cited for potentially subjecting patients to immediate danger.
