Know Any Recovery Programs, Websites, Books, or Other Resources for Alcoholics and Their Families?

Question by kinglove: Know any recovery programs, websites, books, or other resources for alcoholics and their families?
Hi there,

My husband and I are recently recognizing that he is in the beginning stages of a significant alcohol problem. Pretty much early stages of alcoholism. But, we are hopeful and have strong convictions to work on this. (It has been a long, winding road already– too long of a story to get into here…).

He is in therapy, we are in couples therapy, I am reading up and educating myself on alcoholism, and he is trying Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). However, husband is not lking AA really. We are not very religious and there seem to be a very strong religious focus with AA.

Does anyone know of any other support groups or resources out there that we could look into? Or any websites that are good places to chat or post and share with others? Or good books? Or any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

ask him to try a different AA location. different meeting groups have different “personalities”. Ideally, they should not push a religion so much as the importance of finding your belief in that area. They can actually be pretty helpful. Good luck!
