Have You or Anyone You Known Tried Suboxone for Opiate Withdrawl?

Question by jessica: Have you or anyone you known tried Suboxone for opiate withdrawl?
I’ve been on Methadone for a month now and I went on it for Heroin addiction. It is working well as far as I’m not sick or craving. It is hard on my body though. I’ve had 3 periods since I’ve been on it in one month and I’m always very regular. I would like to go on suboxone but I heard you have to be going through withdrawl before going on it. I hear Suboxone isn’t quite as harsh as Methadone and not so bad detoxing off of when you are ready. How many days would I have to go without taking my Methadone to try it? Are there meds. that would help the withdrawl in the meantime? Has suboxone worked for you or the person you know that’s tried it? I also take Xanax which is prescribed and I heard that it is dangerous to take withi Suboxone but I heard the same thing about Methadone and so far, I’ve been okay except for ‘nodding off’ a bit especially around bedtime. Any info. appreciaited.

Many narcotic addicts have started turning to Suboxone (Buprenorphine) instead of Methadone for one basic reason – Methadone creates the very withdrawal symptoms you are trying to avoid when stopped cold-turkey.

Suboxone works by binding to the mu-receptors in the brain…the same receptors opiods bind to. This causes the brain to see Buprenorphine as it would opiates. This nervous system process immediately halts the symptoms of withdrawal mere seconds after administration. You can see why recovering opiate-addicted patients have turned to Sub-X over Methadone.

What you’ve read/heard is correct. In order to start taking Sub-X, you need to be suffering from severe opiate withdrawals. If you are not experiencing withdrawal and you are given Sub-X, it will do the complete opposite and initialize withdawal symptoms. I highly doubt you want that considering you are contemplating it because of the withdrawals suffered when stopping Methadone cold-turkey.

Withdrawal is very hard, both on the mind and the body. There is no single medication (other then opiates themselves or, ofcourse, Suboxone) that will do much to ease withdrawal. Many people have found that a combination of OTC pain relievers, Immodium (for diarrhea), OTC sleep medications, baths and muscle relaxers help, but very mildly.

All this is why narcotic medication and opiate street drugs are so hard to come off of. Most addicts fear the withdrawal so much that they obtain opiates through any method available. It’s horrible but it is true.

Suboxone has made so many lives worth living again. I have read SO MANY positive stories regarding addiction and Suboxone. I would definitely look into this as a way to discontinue the vicious cycle you are caught in. It’s time for you to take your life back. Visit the official Sub-X website (link provided in “source” section).

Good luck and take care!!
