Buprenex for My Cat? Vomiting…..?

Question by you can take it or leave it….: Buprenex for my cat? Vomiting…..?
My cat was dx with a UTI and crystals yesterday…he is on buprenex (buprenorphine) 0.4 ml every 12 hours. I gave him a dose at 9:30 this morning and sometime this afternoon he vomited all of his food. I know this can be a sign of a blockage but he is still eating and urinating. He is actually urinating more today than he was yesterday. Could his vomiting be a side effect to the buprenex? I couldnt find anything online saying it could be…also should I just give him a half dose tonight when he is due? He is playing and eating.
He is not on an antibiotic yet…hes getting a shot tomorrow. The only other med he got was an anti-inflammatory at the vet yesterday.

Hi there… generally, vomiting is not a side of effect of buprenorphine. It’s quite common for male cats who have urinary blockages to feel nauseated. The body is unable to eliminate all the toxins so it backs up in the kidneys.
