What Can Be Done at Home to Ease the Symptoms From Opiate Withdrawal?
Question by mexico4months: What can be done at home to ease the symptoms from opiate withdrawal?
My boyfriend had a terrible ATV accident and has been having back pain ever since. He has no medical insurance, so he hasn’t been able to go to the doctor. Here and there, friends started sharing their Rx painkillers with him…Lorcet, Lortabs, etc. Now he can’t stop. The bad thing is that my boyfriend has an usual gag-reflex when taking pills orally, so he’s been snorting them. This has been going on for about 6 months now. I know that he really wants to stop, but he doesn’t want anyone to know. Plus, he can’t/won’t go to a doctor. I know it won’t be easy, but we are going to do this at home…together. What are some things I can safely do at home to help him with the withdrawal symptoms? Also, how long will it take for the symptoms to subside?

DO NOT DO THIS AT HOME!
It can be very dangerous. Go see a doctor. If anything, the doctor will think very highly of him for admitting to having a problem. Any decent doctor will go out of their way to get him the help he needs.
