Humanity has reached a point where we have become Gods: we have evolved into a species of great power and are responsible for everything in and around our biosphere. One’s welfare in the afterlife, or rebirth, is determined by the actions (karma) in which they invested their power in; Gods who indulge in greedy, aggressive, or ignorant behavior get demoted, and the latter gets promoted or stays the same. Furthermore, our education system teaches mindfulness for other humans, but it doesn’t teach mindfulness of other beings. The cows, chickens, and pigs did not die for your food any more than they died for your “lord.” Your lord did not provide you these lives for you to eat, they were forcefully fertilized, grown, and murdered; chosen to die by the teachings of your fellow humanity (It’s common sense: Gods are all loving and all caring beings who value empathy; they would not save your life if it meant for more peril or the demise of other beings). With a continually growing population, the food industry will continue to approach towards instability, and like the oil industry, the supply for meat will approach unsustainability, and crash.
