Question by Dr No: Is Eric Clapton a burn out now?
He was arrested recently under drug charges. his mug shot looks horrible!! It must be meth or something. any ideas anyone?

Was he arrested, I hadn’t heard. That’s too bad if he reverted. As I understand it, Clapton has struggled with D/A addiction over the span of his career. Seems, many musician’s do. I think there’s something in a musician’s experience that makes that happen easily. The mix of emotions that come with loving music, being influenced by some of the greats who came before you, finding your own style and breaking new ground yourself and it comes with great pressure and I think drugs are a way to turn all your conventional or conservative thinking off, that you may have gotten from your upbringing-which seems to be necessary to do to separate yourself from ordinariness.

Local musicians are not as prone to this, or small timers because they do not have the same pressures and are often merely imitators or play a genre that is lilly-white in it’s personality.

Clapton is revered of course and a human being as well and I wish him the best. He has been a very diverse artist, perhaps moreso than any other, consistently producing popular music of varied ingredients.
