Do You Think the Media and the Government Exaggerate About Illegal Drug Addiction?
Question by Rev Run: Do you think the media and the government exaggerate about illegal drug addiction?
I’m not saying it’s ok to do drugs. I know that misuse can be very harmful and even fatal, but somehow I feel that they exaggerate and they make it seem that the vast majority of users are junkies when in fact studies have shown that less than 10% are addicts and the rest do it occasionally and recreationally. When I was younger I smoked weed once in a blue and I never got hooked. I also did crack just one time and I never did it again.

No, you are fortunate, I know many drug addicts. I don’t do drugs other than caffiene ciggarettes and rarely alchohol, but the majority of people I know are addicted to some form of drug. Crack and methadone being the major ones. Prescription painkillers are another major addiction, and I feel most addictions begin with prescription drugs and then they move on to better things when the doctors refuse them new prescriptions. I’ve known 2 people who have commited suicide because they couldn’t overcome their prescription drug addiction. You won’t hear that in your government statistics! I would think the number was higher. 2 of my childhood friends are in prison right now because of crack, leave that stuff alone!!!! ;-(
