Are Presidents Prescribed Amphetamines?

Question by Brandyn B: Are presidents prescribed amphetamines?
I’ve seen footage of Bush speeches where he appeared to be blatantly on “speed”, but I’ve never heard if this is common practice for presidents. I would understand if it were, as the job is very physically and mentally demanding, but I’d like to know how much and how long the president was on it, as there is some serious decision making impairment in the long run… Just look at what it did to Hitler.

All presidents from Regan on up, have been known to be on some intoxicant or another.
