How Do the Courts Decide on What Rehab Your Teen Goes Too?

Question by Elizabeth M: How Do The Courts Decide On What Rehab Your Teen Goes Too?
Will The Courts Allow You To Have Input If Your Teen Is Mandated To A Rehab?
If the courts mandate my teen to a rehab will I be able to make a request to have him sent to somewhere nearby my home? Or is that a bad idea? He has been in one once before, for a three month stay; voluntarily. That one was close to home, but I am thinking that since he is back on drugs they might not want to send him back there. They had a good program, he just wasn’t ready.
I am worried that the courts will have to choose a place based on availability rather then success do to a good program.

Court mandated rehab is unusual because forced rehabilitation is generally ineffective. If a court does sentence your son to a particular place, it will be to one that has a contract with the state or county, and one that has a record of success.. A rehab center near your home would make it too easy for him to get out.
