Can a Convicted Felon Move From the State He Was Convicted in(Texas) to Alaska?

Question by stephensonclinton: Can a convicted felon move from the state he was convicted in(Texas) to Alaska?
I developed a heavy derug problem some years back. This was only after I saw my dad committ suicide. I started out using just to kind of numb myself from all of the grief that I felt. Well this turned into a major addiction. Honestly it got to the point where I was litterally out of my friggin head. I ended up making some seriously bad decisions. Not really a decision just stupid. I committed a burglary. After this happened I was overwhelmed with disgust for myself. I became ill and started having panic attacks. I checked myself into a rehab clinic and stayed there for 32 days where I learned alot. I have been clean ever since. Well shortly after I got out of treatment ,The police came and kicked my door down at home and, I was arrested. I went directly to the detective and I conffessed my crime. I wasn’t gonna play this stupi b.s. you see on t.v. they try to catch me. I did it I was guilty and I wanted to do what needed to be done to pay for it. I ended up paying the owner of the house every cent from what I stole as well as paying for the installation of a home security system and 6 mos. of service. I am now on 10 years of probation and, I went to prison for 6 mos. I want to know if I can pick up and move from Texas to Alaska. I know what it will take to make my p.o. and the state of Tx. happy but, will Alaska let me move into their state? If so, what is the process if any? If anyone has any info that may help or can redirect me to a websit with info it would really be greatly appreciated. THANK_YOU

If you have completed your probation there should be nothing to stop you from moving where ever you want. The law is clear on that. The people that live there might see things differently but if you adopt a don’t ask don’t tell approach and if asked why you’re moving tell them the truth, global warming made Texas unlivable. Good luck.
