Do You Think It Is Acceptible to Give Advice on Using or Buying Dangerous Drugs to Get High With?

Question by Tony I: Do you think it is acceptible to give advice on using or buying dangerous drugs to get high with?
To my dismay, I see question after question about using or buying dangerous and often illegal drugs and answers advising people to go ahead and do so. The way I interpret the guidelines it is a violation to give harmful or illegal advice, especially to minors. Experience with the horrors of drug abuse and addiction in my own family and my experience working as a volunteer in a drug and alcohol recovery center for young men for two years just appall me to see such things here. All the injured and waste lives, and all the deaths . . .

Actually, I don’t think the term Alernative Medicine actually encompasses illegal and dangerous drug use in the first place.

What do you think?
BTW, the lame excuse that would tell us that if someone is going to do something anyway they might as well find out the safest way to do it just does not float with me. Would the same logic apply to murder, robbery, breaking and entering, etc.?

In many instances, the advice given is not the “safest way” to do something that is by nature unsafe to begin with – it is often just “sure, do it, it’s great”.

And regarding the public forum, so it is OK so long as it does not violate the guidelines – my point is that my interpretation is that such answers often do violate those guidelines for the reasons stated.
Great answers, Tink and Theresa. And both of you pose issues that will likely find their way into questions in the near future: the issue of marijauna use (including where it often leads and possible benefits of some form of legalization) and the issue of why kids or any of us drink to excess or drug to begin with. Stay tuned!

Gary, thanks for the correct answer. When you and I both agree on something you just know it has to be wrong! : )

Drug abuse is a no-brainer. Literally. It may help you escape a reality you don’t wish to deal with but where it takes you is ultimately a road of misery, heartache and worse.
