Alcohol abuse is a major problem for older adults. With the number of baby boomers increasing, this problem is expected to increase. Late-onset alcohol abuse occurs in about one-third or more of older adult alcohol abusers.

Alcohol prevention money available
Money is available for qualified private and public entities to provide alcohol prevention services for young South Dakotans. The Division of Alcohol & Drug Abuse is accepting proposals. The intent is to focus prevention services in two areas, underage drinking among 12- to 20-year-olds and young adult binge drinking among 18- to 25-year-olds.
