West Bridgewater among communities that keep own version of DARE program alive
When the state launched its Drug Abuse Resistance Education initiative in 1987, nearly all of 351 cities and towns eagerly adopted the program. But a budget crunch and suggestions that DARE’s methods are ineffective drove the state to cut its funding in 2004.
