Will Daily, Therapeutic Doses of Amphetamine Cause Irreversible Dopamine Receptor Downregulation?

I have seen and read about studies concerning people who abuse large quantities of either amphetamine or methamphetamine that suggest that the brain’s tolerance adaptation to the drug may be irreversible. I am an adult with ADHD and find the effects of dextroamphetamine to be therapeutic combined with counseling. But I don’t want to keep taking even a 10mg dose twice daily if it’s going to destroy my ability to take pleasure in anything.
