Why Do Police Officers Speed and Abuse Traffic Laws for Their Own Good? Police Officers Abuse Their Powers!?

I am driving to work this morning and several police cars from various jurisdictions are speedind pass motors and/or using their lights to move through the traffic delays for their own good. Example, instead of waiting to merge onto the highway like everyone else, I saw an officer put his lights on to get into traffic and then turn the lights off once in traffic.
