Question by edith clarke: Why is the US obsessed with the war on drugs when twice as many people are addicted to alcohol?
Why do you think Americans are obssessed with fighting drugs? A recent Time article notes that 18.7 million or 7.7% of Americans depend on or abuse alcohol vs 3.6 million people are dependent on drugs.

Obviously alcohol addiction is a much greater problem in our society, so why do you think our society is obsessed with drugs?

If they just made some drugs legal, and sold in certain doses, the game would be over and the world would be a happier place.
