Why Are Certain Drugs Illegal? Why Can’t They Be Legalized?
Question by Shhhh: Why are certain drugs illegal? Why can’t they be legalized?
Now, I don’t do drugs. Never have in my life, and never will. I’m 19.
But, I don’t understand how they are illegal. I do think people should have the right to choose if they want to do them or not. I understand there can be consequences. But I’m sure the person is very well aware of them, and should be able to do them if they want to or not. I mean, we have prisons filled up with rapists, murderers, and then you are just going to put someone who got caught with some drugs in their drawer in there too? I think we should use the extra space for the other incoming rapists, killers, etc. don’t you think? There are many drug users who are harmless, (I have family who tend to do illegal drugs, and have been for years, and they wouldn’t hurt a fly…I tend to remind them of the consequences that can occur, but it’s their choice really.) Yes, some drugs can cloud a persons judgement, or make them get aggressive and dangerous, if that happens they can get arrested. But don’t lump everyone together and get them all in jail. Some really are just harmless drug users.
I think it’d be easier if we just had it legalized. We wouldn’t have so many people in jail.
I’m sorry if I sound…ignorant. It’s just how I see the situation.
