Why Are ADD Drugs Prescribed More Than Drugs Like Xanax?

Question by Mike R: Why are ADD drugs prescribed more than drugs like Xanax?
Most amphetamines like Adderall are Schedule II drugs, while drugs like Xanax (depressants) are Schedule IV. It seems to me that Adderall would be much easier to get prescribed, however, than Xanax. Why is this, given that Adderall is said to have a higher chance of abuse?

adderall helps you study and/or gets you high in general. it has more predictable effects than xanax etc…
