What Would I Major in to Become an Addiction Interventionist?

Question by meeeaa: What would I major in to become an addiction interventionist?
I’m currently majoring in Social Work but I’m a little worried that’s not what I need to be majoring in. I don’t want any guesses. I’d really like to talk to someone who does it or if you have any ideas of where I could go to ask. Thanks!

I’ve had a couple of friends who became chemical dependency counselors and I’m pretty sure they were taking psychology classes. Talk to professors or TA’s in Social Work and Psychology and ask them, or talk to someone at a rehab center. This should be easy to find out just ask around. Good luck.
