What Will Happen Once He Does Recover From Psychosis?

Question by starrynight: what will happen once he does recover from psychosis?
My friend’s husband is in a mental hospital 2000 miles from his family after abusing Bath Salts, he is in a delusional state of psychosis. He has been messed up for over a month and now that he has stopped taking the drug he is still under a state of strange behavior. He is being really mean to his wife calling her and saying strange things to her, things he would never mean. He is refusing meds and has pulled the consent form and won’t let anyone tell his family anything. He has tried to escape and isn’t well at all. Before the consent form was pulled his mom talked to the social worker and she said that he will eventually recover, it may take awhile but he will come out of the state he is in. One he does come out of his state of psychosis, on his own or with help from meds, will he remember how he behaved? They tell his wife to be strong and to ignore his behavior and that the words he is saying are not from the heart that they are just the drugs. She is scared he will never be the same again, he thinks he is normal and that he is fine and that its not the drugs making him like this.
they have out ruled schizophrenia, drugs do not induce schizophrenia unless you already had a mental illness.

He has severe schizophrenia. Unfortunately, the doctors can tell you he might recover but he won’t recover without meds and sometimes even if he finds the right meds, the side effects are so bad that he won’t be the same. The test for severe mental illness is… does he know something is strange about his behaviour? you just answered that with a no, so he could be like this forever.
