What Should I Say to a Loved One at a Drug Intervention?

Question by jess: What should I say to a loved one at a drug intervention?
I was invited to take part in an intervention on wednesday. It is for my best friend. She is addicted to crystal meth. I am wondering if I should be really harsh and completely honest with what I say to her including detail about what she has been doing while on drugs, or should I leave it more generic like “you are killing yourself, I love you, please get help…etc.”

What is the best approach.

I think giving her some details abotu what she has done would be good for her to hear. Sometimes the truth is what people with addictions need to hear. But, also add in the part that you love her and that she is killing herself. Do a mixture of the two. Maybe start with the bad things she’s done and end on a positive note that you support and love her.
