What Is the Best Way to Help Someone With a Prescription Drug Abuse Problem Who Doesn’t Want Help?
My mother is on zanax (sp?) and a muscle relaxer- dangerous combo. She has been blaming it on our father who has cheated on her and caused a nasty divorce.
At first everyone was empathetic towards her because we all knew what she was going through. After a while though, it became old and frustrating because of her inability to go to work and do everyday tasks in a “high” state. The plot thickens after we talk to my older half sister who says that she had been doing this for years, putting us in danger as toddlers (not a very good driver after popping pills u see). So she lost her little depressed excuse over us, since she had been doing it for about 20 years.
She refuses to get help from anyone. She thinks that she is just fine staring into space, drooling and walking haphazardly into everything in sight. She even left the gas stove on on one occasion. I seriously am out of ideas and do not know what to do. I am 16 and have a younger sister to take care of when my mom is incapable.
