What Happens With Elevated Glucose?
Question by Alex R: What happens with elevated glucose?
This is not definite yet because my doctor wants me to retake the blood test in couple weeks but I have just found out I have high cholesterol, high tryglecerides and elevated glucose (If Im not mistaken that is a thing that can cause diabetes) I am currently only 26 years old… and I honestly can see why I have these things I dont eat very healthily. I was curious of those three things that are wrong with me which is the most dangerous. Also was curious what kinds of things will I no longer be able to eat or will I just have to be more cautious. For example Chocolate? Ice Cream? pizza? Burgers? fries? doughnuts?

it’s not what you “cant” eat, it’s what you need to limit. It’s about finding a healthy balance.
Donuts are bad! Even if you don’t have high cholesterol. But guess what’s worse — bagels! Yup. Even the whole grain ones. There is more saturated fat and calories in a single “healthy” begal then one krispy kreme donut. Add creme cheese, and you go from 300 calories to 600. Ugg.
Triglycerides can only be lowered though fitness — not diet. You have to increase your blood circulation, and metabolism. This runs more blood through the liver.
High blood glucose may mean a lower production of insulin. Insulin is produced to insulate the brain from elevated glucose levels. i,e. the “sugar rush effect”. It removes amino acids (calories) from your blood and stores them as body fat.

well they are all bad….cholesterol and triglycerides could set you up for heart disease and stroke….elevated glucose of course sets you up to have diabetes…but i think at your age all of this is totally reversible…good news…..however you will have to make a radical diet change..bad news…there are a million books about a diabetic diet or healthy diet so i wont try and go into it here…..but you can still have the foods you like just maybe have salads and fruit with them to kind of fill the void so you don’t eat as much of the bad stuff and plenty of water so that your body is able to get rid of some of the salt and fats in these foods……but do something about it now before it does cause permanent damage…good luck to you
