What Do You Think of This Poem…be Honest?
Question by Mattimus Prime IS AMERICA!: What do you think of this poem…be honest?
I’ve never fought addiction, face down on cold cement
Never been evicted, no money for the rent
Never had to sell myself, or my dignity
To buy crack or booze, pot or LSD
I’ve never needed dope, to help and mute the pain
Never tried to deal using liquor or cocaine
But this doesn’t mean, that I don’t understand
I still know what it’s like, sinking in the sand
Everything seems to rise above, as you sink further down
And the more you fight and struggle, the more you’re gonna to drown
You desperately try to inhale, not one breath comes easy
People try and take advantage, their intentions wicked and sleazy
And I still know pain and fear, im not invincible
I’ve lain awake my share of nights asking why life’s so cruel
I’ve lost some ones I’ve loved, gained some enemies
But when it comes down to it, I see the forest from the trees
I’ve had my heart broken, as well as bones and dreams
I’ve got the scars to show for it, some ripping at the seams
There’s friends I’ve fought, some I’ve lost
I try to never look back, count the cost
The one thing stronger then whiskey, or even dope
It’s Jesus Christ my loving lord, my passion, and my hope

Great so far……maybe expand on your hope? On God? One sentence seems a bit glib.
