Using amphetamines, and espically abusing them, makes it much harder to focus without them. Someone who uses amphetamines for an extended period of time may also find that they are much more impulsive when not taking their meds.

This can lead to serious social and work related issues if not taken care of in certain cases. Fortunately there is treatments to counteract its long term side effects.

Also, here is something from the Internet I think can help answer your question:
Over the long term, a person who uses amphetamines regularly will find that the short-term side effects of using the drug are exaggerated. The following are examples of the side effects of amphetamine use that may become more noticeable over time:
Blurred vision
Dizziness
Elevated heartbeat
Headache
High blood pressure
Lack of appetite
Rapid breathing
Restlessness
As the drug use continues and the individual doesn’t eat properly, he will start to experience the consequences of malnutrition and lack of sleep. He is more susceptible to becoming ill because of poor overall health.

EDIT: Also, I used amphetamines recreationally all of last year, and I can say personally that I can definatly notice bad long lasting side effercts, and man…I can’t focus on anything anymore. Going to college will be almost pointless for me.
