What Are Marijuana’s Long Term Effects on Mentality?

Question by Tim L: What are marijuana’s long term effects on mentality?
ya, i’m just some average high school kid asking this, and i’ve read a whole bunch of other posts etc. I’m not lookin for some gayass answer like “WEED IS BAD DON’T DO IT IT’LL RUIN YOUR LIFE” I’m not that stupid. I’ve known people who are successful and use marijuana with constraint. Hell, Ronald Reagan smoked weed. I’ve been doing it once or twice a week for the last 3 months and i am LOVING it. i don’t plan to stop smoking weed forever. I’m ambitious, I’m aiming to be a lawyer, applied for a whole bunch of universities already.
Now studies have shown that people who smoke become dumber in terms of grades etc, but i doubt that it is a side effect of the weed. it is the social stigma that goes with it. If you are a stoner, you are bound to conform with your group in not giving a crap about school.
So, are there proven facts that show that marijuana will constrain a person from his ambitions, and ruining the life?

I’m not sure, but many of us have had indescretions in our youth. Where it becomes a problem is in the job market…and even in school. There are many people that like it just a little too much. Seriously, look in the kitchen at your local pizzeria…notice the 30 and 40 year old people working there? They can probably tell you all about how safe weed is. There is a reason they work in a pizzeria….But you are correct, there are plenty that smoke for some time and get professional jobs…but not many…also, many people quite smoking, not because its a drug, but because its smoking, and everyone knows that smoking isnt good for you. And dont go on about natural this and natural that…I smoke cigars and I know they’re not good for me either…And yes the goood cigars that run in the 10 dollar a stick range.

And to really answer your question, I’d be willing to bet that I can find solid facts on both sides of the question you’re asking.
