Sure, clonidine blocks certain receptors for adrenaline. Opiate withdrawl tends to cause large amounts of adrenaline release, which is likely what caused your shakiness and sweating. I’d wager that it was the opiate withdrawl causing those symptoms, not the clonidine. Your dose of clonidine was probably not high enough to offset all the symptoms. Another drug you can use for opiate withdrawl is buprenorphine (suboxone), which you may want to ask your doctor about. It replaces the opiates without you getting high.
