The Collaborative Relationship With Law Enforcement

Crime scene cleaning companies must develop a collaborative relationship with local law enforcement units in order to effectively perform their function. Many such companies which also perform homicide scene clean ups, accident scene clean ups, death scene clean ups, suicide scene clean ups, meth lab clean ups must first consult with detectives and other police officers who are in charge of processing a crime scene to ensure that no evidence that will be needed in the development of their case is misplaced or misused. Often there needs to be coordination to ascertain when the police have completed their crime scene processing and when the crime scene cleaning company can commence its crime scene clean up.

Furthermore, it is not beyond possibility that those who work on a crime scene cleaning or homicide scene cleaning, accident scene cleaning, suicide scene cleaning, death scene cleaning, blood scene cleaning or meth lab cleaning will be required to meet with police after the crime scene processing is complete or as a case is developed. Such staff may even, in a some cases be subpoenaed by a District Attorney’s office to testify in court about the condition of a crime scene or the manner in which certain remnants of the crime were disposed.

Finally the better the collaboration between the crime scene cleaning company and the police force, the better chance that particular crime scene cleaning company will be retained in the future when their services become needed again. Essentially the relationship between a local police outfit and a crime scene cleaning company is a mutual one: the police needs the crime scene cleaning company to ensure its responsibility to public safety is met and the crime scene cleaning company needs the police to properly do its job and put itself in a position to get additional jobs in the future.
