Anyone who has lived with a chronic marijuana habit can understand how it can be life altering. What becomes evident after weed smoking changes from periodic to every day all day is that things begin to suffer. Relationships, goals, work, and even the ability to spend long periods of time away from home become problematic.
When the time comes to make the decision to stop smoking marijuana, it can very daunting if the person isn’t prepared. Understanding what kinds of withdrawal symptoms to expect as well as what kinds of treatments are available is the first step in preparing to quit. Depending on the depth of the addiction/habit, the symptoms can vary in severity. Not only that, but some people will be able to manage the withdrawal symptoms better without supervision, others prefer to join a support program of some kind.
Addiction Substance Abuse: Marijuana Isn’t a Soft Drug
Over the years there has been the on going debate over whether or not marijuana is really a dangerous drug. I suppose it comes down to your own, personal preference on what you choose to believe, but increasingly the medical and scientific evidence is supporting the fact that marijuana is not only illegal, but potentially extremely dangerous.
I am a fan of the News Hour on PBS, and recently Elizabeth Farnsworth spoke with Joseph Califano, the President of the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASA). He shared a rather alarming piece of information regarding marijuana and its relationship to other drugs.
