In the Atlanta suburb of Smyrna Mexican undocumented immigrants were sharing an apartment not far from Cobb Parkway, a major six-lane road running through the area. Police officers arrived at the apartment to serve a warrant for the arrest of one of them for a fight he had gotten into the night before at a local taqueria. But when the police deputy came to the apartment, several men fled out the back patio. The deputy took chase of the men demanding they stop. When they refused, he shot two shots hitting two men, one in the back of the leg and the other in his shoulder, even though the men were unarmed. The man hit in his leg sustained a breach of his femoral artery causing an enormous amount of blood to be lost.
