Should My Wife Assists Her Mother Who Is Ailing With Cancer?

Question by guessi: should my wife assists her mother who is ailing with cancer?
The answer seems obvious ,but let me tell you from the begining. My wife got raped by her mother boyfriend when she was around 12 years old.He use to abuse drug: “crack cocaine”.Around the same time he almost kill her mother by hitting her with a hammer. My wife was present at the time of this accident, she was still a teenager and suffer a lot of trauma from it(she is a very angry person). Her mother get sick:lung cancer and became a metastas(cancer spread everywher) a year ago.She went in ICU and my wife was there for her all the time. She got better and healthier with the help of GOD.Few months later she got back with the same man who rape her daugther and almost kill her.She said that she forgive him and telling her daugther to do the same. Now her cancer is back, and we don’t know if she gonna make it this time.My wife don’t want to be around this rapist, and the relation with her mother is not that good anymore. Can she still assists her mother?

Yes.

Sometimes we have to put differences aside and do what is right.

Before she does she should expect this man to keep his distance from her. You are her husband and you should also be there to help and assist.

If she does nothing she will regret not doing something. I would rather live with facing my fears than live with the fact that I did nothing because of them.

Tell her to be brave, stand up to him and help her mother. People do not always do what we see is right. In their minds they think it is right. We can not change them we can only accept them.

My relationship with my mother is not good right now also. There is a chance she could relapse from a blood disease she has any day. I will be there for her. Regardless of what she has caused or done she is my mother and nothing will take that away. I have never stopped loving her as my mother. I have been disappointed at times and withdrawn myself from situations but I never stopped loving her and would never deny her my assistance if she needed it.

Not everyone makes wise decisions. Not everyone is strong enough to do what is best in bad situations. You can’t blame them totally because they do not know another way, that is why they chose the wrong way!
