Concerta isnt really all that important of a pill it is an attention deficit pill that helps me pay attention and its really helping me but its not making me hungry meaning IM NEVER HUNGRY i barely eat.. and im currently trying to loose weight and anyone that noes anything about the appropriate way to loose weight noes that u have to eat 6 times a day meal and then 3 hours later a snack.. so 6 times a day can anyone help me should i stop taking this pill so i can resume my weght loss plan or what should i do!?!?!??!?!

I know exactly how you feel. Im on vyvance, (im ADHD by the way) and i have lost 30 lbs. in 4 months. 16 yrs. old at 100 lbs. But my grades in school are A’s! Take my advice. I was on concerta since i was in 2nd grade. This year, being my sophomore yr. in high school, I switched to vyvance. If your medicine helps u in school, only take it during the week. On the weekends, do not take it and PIG OUT ON FOOD. haha that’s what I do.

Concerta is an extended release version of methylphenidate (Ritalin). Methylphenidate is a synthetic stimulant/amphetamine, meaning it is a “man made” medication, similar to other stimulants, such as methamphetamine and cocaine, although closer to methamphetamine. Being a stimulant, one of the side effects is the inhibition of hunger, such as you mentioned, as well as loss of weight. In fact, one of the off label uses of these drugs, is for weight loss. I’m confused by your question, as you say your satisfied by the efficacy for your ADHD, but this drug also will help promote the loss of weight as you desire. It should be noted Concerta and methylphenidate are powerful stimulants and are Schedule II drugs, in the same Schedule as morphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, methamphetamine sulfate and other similarly strong drugs/narcotics.
