Q&A: Noire-Themed Macbeth Movie for English class…Help Needed? What Music Should I Use, Lighting, Filming?

Question by : Noire-themed Macbeth movie for English class…Help needed? What music should I use, lighting, filming?
Hi there, so I’m a grade 10 english student and for our summative project at school we have to make a movie based on Macbeth (Basic plot but changing many things) using any genre. Me and my group decided to be a little original and go with the idea of making a 40’s style Film Noir.

So here are my ideas:
Plot:
A Scarface-style mafia story

Macbeth is a very high ranking member of the Mafia in L.A. who acts on his own ambitions and kills the Mafia Don Duncan in order to take his place. A police detective from the LAPD is called in to investigate a “shots fired” during a brief shootout that leads to Duncan’s death. The detective returns a few rounds but stops to report in the homicide. Throughout the movie, the detective and his partner will investigate the incident, looking for evidence and chasing leads, which all eventually point back at Macbeth. In the final showdown, Macbeth and the two detectives will duel each other, with the secondary detective dying and Macbeth killed by the lead detective.

Cast:
Macbeth – High Ranking Gang member who kills and replaces the Mafia don.
Macduff – The lead police detective in the movie
Lady Macbeth – The wife of Macbeth
The Macduff Family – goes into hiding after a failed assassination attempt by the Mafia
Detective Banquo – The secondary detective; Macduff’s partner; killed by Macbeth during final showdown

Music: What song would go well with the Film-noir theme for the intro?
– Goldeneye by Tina Turner (would fit story-wise as it makes references about jealousy; the only problem that I would have is if it would fit with the “Noire” theme.

– “You Know My Name” by Chris Cornell (It’s the Rock that I’m worried about; don’t know if it’ll fit noire)

– Theme from L.A, Noire

Also, costume-wise:
– Police detectives wear brown/black suit and matching dress pants, white dress shirt, fedora, badge, nerf gun
– Macbeth will wear Leather jacket before killing Duncan. After becoming the new Mafia don, he wears a suit.

BTW, how do you shoot “Film-Noir” during the day outdoors? And what are some techniques of shooting film noir? What are some good angles and lighting techniques?

Also, props include Nerf Guns, fake “Marijuana” (Garden Weed), and fake cocaine (Bag of flour)

Also, the story contains Dramatic Irony as the audience knows that Macbeth was the killer but the detectives do not. (is this a good/bad idea?)

Also, is my plot good? Thanks

I know it may sound weird but Bulls on Parade by Rage Against the Machine. Start it at about 27 seconds with that cool change.
