Can anyone explain to me this question:
Marijuana is classified as a Schedule I narcotic, which means VERY HARMFUL with NO MEDICINAL VALUE. At the same time, 12 states currently have laws allowing doctors to proscribe medical marijuana to treat everything from AIDS related malingering, chemo side effects, to glaucoma, fibomyalgia, and arthritis. Many more states are now considering this. In these 12 states, there has been NO surge of teen drug use, no surge in hard drug use, and no change in the quality of life. Marijuana has no proven toxic effects, and it’s “gateway drug” status is seriously questionable as a legacy of Nixon Era War on Drugs propaganda.
So, with all of this information, how is marijuana still classified on the same level, and with the same penalties, as crack, heroin, and crystal meth? Does this mean that our government is “lying” or seriously behind the times? Are they denying medical science or just behind on paperwork?
In New Jersey.
