I thought Phoenix is safer than LA, how many Mexicans in metro area?

My friend, yes it really is horrible. The population of the greater Phoenix metropolitan area is officially listed as something like 5.4 million. But when you factor in all the illegal Mexicans living here, that number could easily be 7 million.
Let me break it down for you.
PROS:
* Fantastic weather (from about mid-October through early May)
* Dry air. You don’t have to worry about mold, mildew, or car rust. Best of all, there are virtually NO MOSQUITOES = )
* Gorgeous sunsets, beautiful desert landscape and fauna
* Affordable housing/property costs
* Modern infrastructure and a good freeway system. For a city of this size, traffic is really not too bad here
* Overall it’s a fairly clean city in spite of the smog and pollution (which is nowhere near as bad as Houston’s or LA’s)
CONS:
* The summer heat
* Low wages
* Orwellian neighborhoods
* Learn to love your car because there’s little or nothing within walking distance of most homes and apartments
* HIGH utility bills, especially in the summer when you’ll have your A/C running 24/7
* Very little cultural diversity (Mexicans and Native Americans, that’s about as diverse as it gets in Phoenix)
* Horrible, horrible, rude drivers (AZ is #1 nationwide in hit-and-run accidents, which tells you something right there)
* Rampant panhandling and solicitation
* Too many chain restaurants, and a sore lack of any type of ethnic food other than Mexican
* Meth-heads
* White trash
* Mormons
* Rednecks
* Skin cancer
* Downtown Phoenix itself is purely a business district with very little in the way of nightlife or entertainment (other than the sports arenas)
* CRIME. A huge problem here. Arizona is #1 nationwide in identity theft and #4 in car theft (trailing only CA, TX and FL)
* Illegal immigration – another huge problem here
* The public schools are putrid; AZ’s public education system is ranked #49 nationwide
* EXPENSIVE rates for car registration and insurance
* The people – overall I just don’t find Phoenicians to be very sophisticated, cultured or mannered
I’m not out to trash Phoenix. I just want you to have all the facts. As you might guess, I’m thoroughly disenchanted with this place and I’ve made the decision to move out.
