People Who Go From Addiction to Rehab?

Question by .:JuSt A GiRl:.: People who go from addiction to rehab?
Are they always going to put themselves first?
When they were addicted they came first.
Their addiction was always number one priority.
Once rehabilitated, their sobriety comes first.
Is it possible for those types of people to ever learn how to function in normal family life?
In a family, you being the parent and having a partner, you cannot be selfish and out yourself first.
Could they ever learn or are they too stuck on their own path to worry about anyone else’s?

People with addictions are usually not in the right state of mind to worry about anyone but themselves. Rehab doesn’t always work. It takes a lot of effort and energy from them to go to rehab. It is possible for them to learn how to function normally, but that’s after they put themselves first. They have to put themselves first for a time, in order to get better. When you have too many problems with yourself, you can’t really focus on other people’s problems.
