Once an Addict… Always an Addict (Recovering Addicts Please)?

Question by Elizabeth: Once an addict… always an addict (recovering addicts please)?
So I used to use drugs heavily, as well as alcohol.

I’ve been in all types of treatment and sadly visited the hospital more times that I wanted to.

Whenever I bring up the fact that I’ll always be a drug addict to my friends they hate it.

I can’t blame them, because they don’t want to think of me as an addict anymore.

Anyway I always think that “Once and addict… always an addict”

In a way though sometimes that makes me justify things….

For example, since I’m an addict it’s okay to take a drink or do a line.

On the other hand I have to remember that I am an addict and that using for me
is not the same as using is for another person.

What do you think about this?

(I’ve been clean for about seven months… how about you?)

The answer i’m going to give you is pretty much this song “Plan B – Mama (loves a crackhead)”.

STOP making up excuses. It isn’t once an addict always an addict – otherwise there wouldn’t be all the ex-addicts walking about. You’re just making up excuses for your weak willpower.

At the end of the day, i’ll leave you with one quote because i don’t argue with addicts;

“There’s nothing more pathetic than a cry for help,
Either you do or you don’t wanna kill yourself,
Everybody knows you’ve got a problem so it don’t matter if you admit it,
What you’ve gotta do is be a man and fuckin’ deal with it.”
