the mayor of atlantic city disappeared on september 26. the governor of new jersey asked the attorney general to look into whether he had abandoned his office. the mayor was under federal investigation for having lied about his military record. after two weeks of sordid speculation he was found to be in rehabiliation at a place for drug and alcohol addiction. no details have been forthcoming.
