i was just curious to hear the side of the “anti-marijuana” and “pro-marijuana” individuals. why our society continues to disown this medicinal substance(that is still categorized as less medicinal than cocaine), and yet continues to support the alcohol market that is undeniably destroying lives nation-wide. The anti marijuana commercials that play on everyones tv sets daily spread propaganda about how it ruins lives and families, and makes people unintelligent. but these commercials are followed by commercials promoting and glorifying the effects of alcohol, and yet alcohol is one of the more dangerous and detrimental substances, thats devastating effects can be seen everywhere we go. Why is cannabis more “taboo” than alcohol? And finally, with our economy in shambles, and our government scrambling for solutions, why not decriminalize, regulate, and tax it like they do with alcohol and tobacco? (annually, the british columbia cannabis market brings in between 2 and 10 billion dollars. making it one of british columbia’s top 3 industries) it just seems foolish not to utilize this with our economy in this condition. What does everyone think?
Barack obama has stated on multiple occasions that we need to revise our marijuana prohibition laws. and that he would instruct the DEA to end raids on medical marijuana facilities in states where it is legal.
Although i do not think that alcohol should be illegal, i do think that its far more detrimental to our society than cannabis ever has been. from the earliest research on marijuana conducted in our country, weve known that marijuana is not addictive. it has been more extensively tested and found that it has less addictive qualities than even caffeine. The fact that our government has, and still is waging a war against A PLANT, and spending billions of dollars to do so, is baffling.
