Matthew 6:13, Jesus Taught Us to Pray, and Why Should We Ask God Not Let Us Fall Into Temptation?
Question by Janet Reincarnated: Matthew 6:13, Jesus taught us to pray, and why should we ask God not let us fall into temptation?
What temptations was Jesus talking about?
I think Jesus was talking about depression and other mental disturbances that become our inner battles, sometimes leading us to rape, hurt, murder or suicide; and also about addictions like drugs, alcohol, promiscuos sex, money, gambling, lying.
What do you think?
Also, the bible says Jesus was tempted by the devil. What is the purpose of that? If Jesus, The Perfect One, was tempted, does that not tell us we all are inevitably tempted, too? In that case, “temptation” and “test” could certainly be considered the same thing. We are tested in our Faith and Knowledge, and we should pray asking not to “fall short”.
Or course, the devil in the bible is a representation of our own struggles.

Any sin of course.. there will always be temptations but we should not fall to them.
Jesus was tempted but did not fall and we should try and live the same.
