Major Depression; How Do I Live?
by ohskylab
Question by Anonymous: Major Depression; How do I live?
Notice the key word “do.” I don’t mean “How should I live?” because technically, I should be healed and ready to go back to school. I’m in a partial hospitalization program, but the drugs and “counseling” are only getting me better to a certain extent.
The only reason I wake up is because I might be hungry, and I’ve only stuck with hospitalization because there was nothing else to do. I’m supposed to be going back to school, but I have almost no intentions of passing.
People tell me that I shouldn’t be suicidal or hopeless because the things that are making me sad are “cognitive distortions,” but I don’t believe them. I think my negative predictions and shitty feelings always turn out to be warranted. My parents expect me to go back to school like normal, but I don’t think I want to even pass. I’d rather just sit on my ass until I get more treatment or ultimately kill myself.
What can I do?

Ultimetley you live however the heck you want to. School won’t last forever and you will move on – whether you like it or not cos time is like that. Then there’s the saying: To get anything out of lif you need to put effort in. I know what you mean tho, it just seems like “what is the point” sometimes. Why don’t you try making some friends. Nice people. That will be a good start for you as they will help even if they don’t realise it. Good luck 🙂
