Looking for Suggestions on How to Handle My Fiance’s Possible Drug Abuse….?
Question by CeeJ: Looking for suggestions on how to handle my Fiance’s Possible Drug abuse….?
He was in a psych hosp. bout 4 months ago. When he got done with his ECT(shock therapy) I was “in charge” of his meds. I set them up for him each week&put the bottles up so he could not find them… (His misuse was1thing that contributed to his mental breakdown that sent him to the hosp. to begin with) As time has gone on&he’s been seeing his psych. reg-I go in with him, per my fiance’s request. My Fiance asked me, why I hid the rest of the meds. I told him & he said he wouldn’t do that again, as he don’t remember even doing it. He asked if I didn’t trust him… I told him I do. Last month we agreed to put them in the open. Yesterday when a couple of his scripts were out, he was 4 days short on one. I knew he lost 2 but that didn’t explain the other 2. He got the script filled-i was @ work. I filled the week and counted- he was 2 short. He said he took them today to help him rest. (aftr he lied to me bout it) That’s 800 mg of seroquel he took!& reglr meds! Please Help!!
I’m afraid if I put the med bottles up again, he’ll get angry. Seroquel makes him extremely agitated, as well as sleepy, zombie like. He’s only prescribed to take 400 mg at bedtime to help him sleep. At one time he was on 600mg at night but he was a zombie- sleepy, slurred speech, trouble walking, agitated, and he was like this for almost 24hrs after taking it! His Psych. cut him back. I have explained this too him and had the back up to prove it. So when I came home and found him in that same condition…. I knew something was up!! I don’t know what to do! I just know I can’t handle anymore of his misuse of his meds!! He does work, but he can’t work like that if he’s abusing his meds!
He does take A LOT Of MEDS!
Effexor XR (225mg day), Xanax XR (2mg day), Klonopin (2mg day), Norco , Adderall (10mg day), Seroquel (400mg day)
I haven’t noticed anything else abused….yet.
